With the recent upgrade of TDS SE1 there have been a number of new and exciting components coming to the TDS suite. Within this upgrade, TDS Cloud is now fully implemented to all of our products and is concerned with providing you with the most optimised and secure platform security across every visitor, host, and admin of your system.
What is TDS Cloud?
Along with all of the latest updates is the significant upgrade to the product component that is TDS Cloud. TDS Cloud is hosted and managed using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon's Cloud computing platform. By hosting our services on AWS, the solution allows TDS to process and maintain your data safely and reliably, with comprehensive protection against data breaches.
In a Digital Transformation age, organisations understand the importance of making smarter, better-informed decisions and are required to do so if they wish in order to maintain pace with their industry competitors. There is now an increasing amount of reliance being placed on how data is stored, formatted and analysed.
For TDS Visitor, TDS Access, and TDS Student, TDS Cloud is concerned with providing you with the most optimised and secure platform security across every visitor, host, and admin of your system. Cloud security at TDS is the highest priority and is protected by the highest standards of security. The technical environment made available to our customers through TDS Cloud typically provide our clients with a more resilient and available infrastructure than achieved on-premise.
How is security managed in TDS Cloud?
TDS Cloud refers to how a client's visitor data is used and stored on the cloud, with complete compliance. Users created on TDS Cloud have access to client instances for the sole purpose of system support.
Each user is responsible for maintaining their account and where relevant, are requested to set up public/private key pairing for authentication against systems. All AWS admin accounts that integrate with TDS Cloud are required to complete a two-factor authentication process to log in.
What are the main benefits of TDS Cloud?
1. Cost Efficiency and Visibility
Cloud Storage for visitor management and access control solutions is generally more affordable because providers distribute the costs of their infrastructure and services across many businesses.
By moving your business solutions to the cloud, this eliminates the cost of hardware and maintenance. Removing these capital expenditures and the associated service salaries can translate into significant cost savings.
Any direct costs associated with on-premise hosting also become expenses of the past with; power, floor space, storage, IT operations, network infrastructure and more either becoming obsolete or are altered for by TDS Cloud.
2. Simplified Convenience
All you will need in your office is a computer and an internet connection. Much of your server hardware will no longer be necessary, which saves physical space and eliminates the need for maintenance and employee attention.
According to Forbes, "83% of Enterprise workloads will be in the Cloud by 2020".
3. Enhanced Security
Instead of having hardware within your office, cloud storage is housed in a data centre, providing enterprise-level security. There is also no single point of failure in the cloud because your data is backed up to multiple servers. This means that if one server crashes, your data stays safe because it is stored in other locations.
4. Mobility Opportunities.
The mobility benefits provided by the cloud are rapidly increasing for businesses of all shapes and sizes. In today's world of connectivity, we can work whenever and wherever. Before cloud storage came along, working outside the office was problematic and more time consuming than it needed to be.
To ensure compliance, members of the infrastructure team have full access to the environment for installations, back-ups, maintenance, and other system processes. Support team members are granted limited access to the environment to aid in the configuration and troubleshooting of tickets.
If you work from multiple devices - i.e. phone, tablet and desktop computer - you will not have to worry about manually adding the latest file onto each device. Instead, the newest version of your document is stored in the cloud and will be easily accessible from any of your devices.
5. Scalable Services
With cloud storage, you pay for what you use, as you use it. You do not need to anticipate how much storage space you will need. You can adjust the resources available through cloud storage providers and pay based on your current needs, modifying as they change.
Cloud service and storage provides valuable IT solutions for businesses of all sizes. The robust infrastructure created to support could technologies helps the technical environments provided by cloud migration to offer organisations a more reliant, robust and flexible infrastructure that achievable on-premise.
The Future of Cloud Storage
No longer a vague futuristic concept, cloud adoption has become a hot topic for Security, IT and Facility Management teams. The cloud or some version of it plays a prominent role in global business operations.
CIO's and IT Directors leverage cloud-based services to optimise computing power across busy networks, giving employees and management alike the option of pulling data-intensive applications from the cloud on an as-needed basis, thus freeing up space on local machines and servers.
TDS Cloud is a component of our upgraded product suite which is now more of a necessity than ever!
